Selena Gomez Says She’s Done With Music, Wants To ‘Earn Place’ In Film & TV Industry
Selena Gomez, who made a name for herself in music before taking a step back to focus on acting, has revealed that she plans to continue pursuing a career in film and television. In a recent interview with ‘The Hollywood Reporter’ on November 20, the ‘Only Murders in the Building star’ shared that she feels she has accomplished what she wanted in music and is eager to explore more acting opportunities.
“I think I’ve done just as much as I wanted to do in music,” Gomez explained, adding that in film and TV, she feels like she’s just beginning. The Emmy-nominated actress expressed her desire to “earn her place” in the industry, emphasising her passion for storytelling. “I’m excited to do more of that,” she said.
While the idea of stepping away from music surprised some, Gomez reassured her fans, clarifying that music “isn’t going away” but that she had simply “set it down for a second.” This isn’t the first time Gomez has discussed her music career, referring to it in the past as “just a hobby that went out of control.” When asked about her next album, she gave a vague response, suggesting that her focus will remain on acting for now.
In addition to her acting career, Gomez has seen significant success with her makeup brand, Rare Beauty. Recently named a billionaire by ‘Bloomberg’, Gomez expressed pride in her growing wealth but emphasized that it hasn’t changed who she is.
Her latest acting project, ‘Emilia Perez’, is now available to stream on Netflix.
