Semolina Upma: Try semolina upma for breakfast today, it will be ready instantly

Ingredients to make Vegetable Upma:

– Semolina (Rava): 1 cup
– Oil/Ghee: 2 tbsp
– Mustard (Rai): 1 tsp
– Curry leaves: 8-10
– Asafoetida: a pinch
– Onion: 1 (finely chopped)
– Green chilli: 1-2 (finely chopped)
– Ginger: 1/2 tsp (grated)
– Carrot: 1/4 cup (finely chopped)
– Peas: 1/4 cup
– Capsicum: 1/4 cup (finely chopped)
– Tomato: 1/4 cup (finely chopped, optional)
– Salt: as per taste
– Water: 2.5 cups
– Lemon juice: 1 tablespoon
– Coriander leaves: 2 tbsp (for garnishing)

How to make Vegetable Upma

1. Fry Semolina:
1. Put semolina in a pan and fry it on low flame till it becomes light golden and aromatic.
2. Take out the roasted semolina in a plate.

2. Add tempering:
1. Heat oil in a pan.
2. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
3. Add curry leaves, asafoetida and green chillies.
4. Add ginger and onion and fry until light pink.

3. Cook Vegetables:
1. Add carrots, peas, capsicum (and tomatoes, if adding).
2. Cook them for 3-4 minutes until they become slightly soft.

4. Add water:
1. Add 2.5 cups of water to the vegetables and let it boil.
2. Add salt and mix.

5. Mix semolina:
1. Slowly add semolina to boiling water and stir continuously so that lumps do not form.
2. Let it cook on low flame for 3-4 minutes until the upma becomes thick and creamy.

6. Add lemon and coriander:
1. Add lemon juice and mix well.
2. Garnish with coriander leaves.

Serve:
