New Delhi: Youth are being recruited online by Pakistan-based terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). This has been revealed by the recent arrest of a member of Jaish-e-Mohammed from Goalpara district of Assam. He told that terrorist organizations are running the recruitment process with the help of cyberspace. Regarding this, a senior intelligence officer said, “Due to the development and progress of information technology, terrorist organizations do not need to send their people to India, rather they can send thousands of people to India. You can involve the youth with you by sitting miles away.” In fact, Jaish-e-Mohammed member Sheikh Sultan Salahuddin Ayubi was arrested by the NIA team from Goalpara district of Assam. It was also included in the terrorist organization online. “He (Ayubi) was recruited into Jaish-e-Mohammed through cyberspace and was trying to radicalize others to join the organisation,” the officer said.

Till recent times, Jaish-e-Mohammed has always been targeting Jammu and Kashmir. But after the arrest of a member of Jaish-e-Mohammed from Assam, the security agencies have become alert. The officer said, “Terrorist organizations will definitely try to take advantage of the social and economic situation to bring innocent youth into their fold. Apart from this, with the help of latest communication technology, they will try to recruit youth into the organization online. Will also try.” Assam Police and other security agencies have earlier foiled several attempts of terrorist organizations by arresting many people. JMB and ABT have tried to establish their roots in Assam as they have a strong base in Bangladesh.
