Senior National Volleyball in Varanasi from January 4, Mayor and Deputy CM handed over invitation letter to PM Modi

Varanasi, 26 December. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Khelo India’ vision, his own birthplace Kashi is now going to witness a big glorious chapter in the world of sports. In this sequence, the 72nd Senior National Volleyball Championship (Men and Women) has been organized from January 4 at the Dr. Sampoornanand Sports Stadium located in Sigra in the middle of the city, in which a total of 73 teams from across the country will compete.

Preparations for the eight-day long competition are now in the final stages. In order to make this sports Mahakumbh historic, Organizing Committee Chairman and Mayor Ashok Kumar Tiwari and Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and UP Volleyball Association President Brijesh Pathak met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday and handed him the formal invitation letter for this prestigious championship.

Prime Minister Modi extended his best wishes to Varanasi for this grand event and described it as very inspiring for the youth. This is the first time that a national competition of this level is being organized in Purvanchal, which will give a new identity to the sports infrastructure of Kashi.

mascot ‘Nandu’ and ‘Neera’ will increase enthusiasm

To make this championship special, mascots related to local culture have been selected. Nandi inspired ‘Nandu’ and Ganga dolphin ‘Neera’ will be the official mascots of this national competition. To make the event transparent, surprise anti-doping tests will also be conducted on the players and the matches will be telecast live on YouTube channel.
