Bengaluru: A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in Bengaluru, Karnataka, where a 70-year-old woman was murdered after entering her house by slitting her throat. The surprising thing is that at the time of the incident, her disabled husband was sleeping on the same bed. After the murder, gold ornaments worth about Rs 65 lakh were also found missing. Police have arrested the accused on the basis of CCTV footage.

This incident came to light when the doctor who had come to give physiotherapy to the woman’s husband saw a blood soaked body inside the house. Preliminary investigation has revealed the motive of robbery behind the murder. Police have arrested an accused in the case.

Murder committed in front of husband

The deceased has been identified as Shobha, who lived with her husband Ranganath in Kote Beedi area of ​​Hirapur in Nelamangala. Ranganath has been paralyzed for the last 15 years and remains bedridden. The couple had no children and were living alone.

On the day of the incident, both of them had returned home after their daily morning walk. During the night, the accused entered the house and slit Shobha’s throat. It is said that her husband was lying nearby at the time of the incident, but he was not even aware of the attack.

Secret revealed after doctor’s arrival

The next morning, when the doctor came to give physiotherapy to Ranganath, this heinous murder came to light. Shobha’s body was found soaked in blood on the bed, while Ranganath was lying next to her.

450 grams of gold and loot worth Rs 65 lakh

Police have arrested wholesale shop owner Shivkumar. It is alleged that he entered the house at around 1:03 in the night and committed the crime.

According to the investigation, the motive for the murder was financial gain. Shobha was the daughter of a jewelery shop owner and was wearing heavy gold jewelery at the time of the incident. When cash was not found in the house, the accused took off the woman’s chain, bangles and other jewellery.

About 450 grams of gold is said to be missing, the estimated value of which is around Rs 65 lakh.

Secret revealed through CCTV

In the CCTV footage, the accused was seen running away on a motorcycle immediately after the incident. The police reached the accused by tracing the registration number of the vehicle from the cameras installed nearby.

As evidence, the police have seized the motorcycle, the knife used in the murder and the mobile phone of the accused.

Trying to avoid suspicion by joining the crowd

According to police sources, Shivakumar returned to the crime scene during the initial investigation and stood in the crowd as a spectator. Later he returned home on his Activa scooter, to avoid suspicion.

However, the registration number of the scooter exposed the entire conspiracy and the accused was arrested.
