Bayern Munich’s dramatic late win in Freiburg on Saturday was an occasion to remember for a number of reasons – not least for the team’s unusual post-match celebrations.
Bayern were 2-0 down after 80 minutes at the Europa-Park Stadion, but a Tom Bischof double and a stoppage-time winner from Lennart Karl clinched a 3-2 victory.

The result meant that Vincent Kompany’s side have now officially qualified for the UEFA Champions League next season.
Fifth-placed Hoffenheim are 23 points behind them, and with just 18 more points available for each team this term, leaders Bayern cannot mathematically finish outside the top four.
Furthermore, Karl’s effort was the team’s 100th Bundesliga goal of 2025/26, putting them just one behind the all-time single-season best of 101 set by the Bavarian giants in 1971/72.
Not only that, but the 18-year-old’s strike in the ninth minute of stoppage time was the club’s joint-latest-ever goal since detailed data collection began in 1992. Serge Gnabry also found the net in the 99th minute this season in a 4-1 win at Hoffenheim.
Speaking of Gnabry, the Germany international led the team’s celebrations on the pitch after the final whistle in Freiburg. Donning a pair of shorts emblazoned with the face of team-mate Leon Goretzka, the players danced in front of the fans – and also produced an oversized poster of the midfielder.

Goretzka, who will leave the club at the end of the season, took it with good humour, and eventually Gnabry took the shorts off and handed them, along with the poster, to the travelling fans.
