Serious allegations against British minister Tulip Siddiq, opposition leaders demand her dismissal

After serious allegations of corruption against Tulip Siddiq, a British Labor Party minister and niece of Sheikh Hasina, pressure is increasing on British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to remove her from her post. Siddiq is accused of having taken properties from supporters of the former government of Bangladesh. Yunus has demanded an investigation from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to investigate these allegations of Siddiq. “These properties should be returned to Bangladesh as they have been purchased by Awami League associates,” he said.

However, Tulip Siddiq has denied these allegations and requested for an independent investigation. He has said that he is not involved in any wrongdoing and the matter should be investigated in a transparent manner. Despite criticism from the Bangladesh government, Siddiq stands firmly in its defence.

After the allegations against Siddiq, opposition leaders have also become aggressive regarding this matter. Opposition leader Kemi Badenoch has called on Prime Minister Keir Starmer to fire Siddiq. He said, “Starmer appointed a minister who worked against corruption, but the same minister is embroiled in corruption allegations.”

Siddiq lives in property worth Rs 22 crores

She has now put this property on rent, and she is currently living on rent at the house of UK Awami League executive member Abdul Karim Nazim, which is worth around £2.1 million (Rs 22 crore).
