Delhi: The servant he hired cleaned Rs 40 lakh from the house; Detained from hotel in Himachal Pradesh
A domestic help has been arrested for stealing Rs 40 lakh cash from a house in Punjabi Bagh area of West Delhi. A police officer gave this information to a news agency. According to the officer, a man had hired a servant to take care of his employer’s father. The servant had started working in the house about 15 days before the theft. The officer said that a complaint regarding theft was received on November 29, after which an FIR was registered on November 30 under relevant provisions of BNS. During the investigation, CCTV footage of the house and surrounding areas was examined. A senior police officer said that in the initial footage, Dhruv was seen leaving the house empty handed.
However, upon further investigation of the CCTV cameras installed in the surrounding areas, it was found that he was later seen roaming with his associates Jatin and Shivam. In one clip, Shivam was seen carrying a black bag. Police said that the mobile phones of the three accused were switched off immediately after the incident. Several raids were conducted on his possible hideouts in Delhi, but initially he could not be traced.
Later, technical surveillance and call detail record (CDR) analysis revealed that the accused have gone out of Delhi i.e. Jammu and Kashmir. After continuous efforts, Dhruv and Jatin surrendered before the court. During interrogation, it was revealed that all three had often used the same travel agency to travel from one state to another. Further investigation revealed that Shivam had booked a cab for Himachal Pradesh. Acting on this lead, the police traced the cab driver, who told the place where Shivam was staying.
After which the police team immediately reached the spot and caught Shivam from a hotel in Himachal Pradesh. Police said that during the search, apart from Rs 36.05 lakh cash, branded shoes and clothes purchased with the stolen money were recovered. All the recovered items were confiscated and the accused was produced in the court and sent to judicial custody. Police said further investigation is underway to recover the remaining amount and find out anyone else’s involvement.
