According to the latest forecast of India Meteorological Department, an active Western Disturbance will enter Northwest India from March 14. Its influence is expected to bring rain and snowfall over higher areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. While many parts of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh are likely to experience thunderstorms, lightening and light rain.
Heat and heat waves are forecast to persist in some parts of the country, particularly Gujarat and West Madhya Pradesh. Western Disturbance will be highest over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. According to the Meteorological Department, several parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh are likely to experience light to moderate rain and snowfall in higher elevations on March 14 and 15. Following this, the intensity of rain and snowfall is likely to increase over these states between March 15 and 18.
Thunderstorms and thunderstorms are also expected in some areas. Wind speed can reach 30 to 50 km per hour during this period. In Uttarakhand, light rain and snowfall is expected in some parts of the state on March 14 and 15, while rain is likely in most parts of the state on March 15 and 16. The same will be seen in the plains of North India.
Light rain forecast in some parts of Punjab
According to the Meteorological Department, light rain, thundershowers and lightning are likely to occur in some parts of Punjab between March 14 and 17. Haryana and Chandigarh are also likely to experience similar weather conditions between March 15 and 17. Thunderstorm and rain are likely to occur in Uttar Pradesh on March 15 and 16. Meanwhile, some parts of Rajasthan may experience thunderstorms and lightning on March 14 and 15.
