Severe cold creates panic in UP! All schools in 16 districts closed on 20th December, children got relief

This time winter has wreaked havoc in Uttar Pradesh. In view of the severe cold and dense fog, holiday has been declared in all schools in 16 districts of the state on Saturday, December 20. District Magistrates of different districts have issued these orders. Under these orders, all boards and recognized schools will remain completely closed on December 20.

December 21st is Sunday anyway, so there will be a holiday. That means now children will go to school directly on Monday 22nd December. However, each district has announced holidays as per its own. In some places schools till 8th and somewhere till 12th have been closed. At some places only the timing has been changed.

The 16 districts with holiday are – Bareilly, Kanpur, Kanpur Dehat, Jaunpur, Auraiya, Orai (Jalaun), Hardoi, Rampur, Sambhal, Badaun, Kasganj, Gonda, Pilibhit, Ambedkarnagar, Shahjahanpur.

Schools up to 12th closed in 7 districts

In view of the severe cold, DM of 7 districts has issued an order to keep all schools up to 12th closed till 20th December. BSA has sent this order to all the schools. These districts are – Sambhal, Kanpur, Kanpur Dehat, Orai, Hardoi, Auraiya and Ambedkarnagar. Classes will start again in these districts from December 22.

Holiday till 8th in 9 districts, timing changed at some places

Whereas in 9 districts only schools up to 8th will remain closed on 20th December. These include Rampur, Bareilly, Gonda, Hathras, Shahjahanpur, Pilibhit, Jaunpur, Kasganj and Badaun.

The timings of schools from classes 1 to 8 in Agra have been changed from 10 am to 3 pm. There was some sunshine in Prayagraj on Friday and the temperature reached 21.2 degrees, but there is a warning of dense fog again on Saturday.

Kanpur shaken by icy winds

There was havoc in Kanpur the whole day due to fog and mist. The night fog did reduce a bit, but visibility remained only 0-20 meters in many areas. The day temperature increased from 15.3 to 17.5 degrees, which is 6.2 degrees more than normal. But the night temperature dropped from 10.6 to 9.8 degrees. Not much change is expected in the minimum temperature in the next 24 hours.

Red alert of dense fog in these districts

The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert of dense to very dense fog in many districts. These include Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Varanasi, Bhadohi, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Basti, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Mathura, Hathras, Etah, Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Bijnor, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit and surrounding areas are included.
