Severe heat wreaks havoc in France, more than 1000 people died due to heatwave, record breaking heat in 16 countries

France Heatwave : Europe is in the grip of a severe and record-breaking heatwave these days. In many countries the temperature has reached much above normal, due to which life has been badly affected. Nearly 1,000 additional deaths have been recorded in France between June 24 and June 27. Most of these include elderly people and most of the deaths have occurred inside homes. Its impact has been seen more in Paris and surrounding areas.

Heat records broken in 16 countries

The temperature has broken many old records in about 16 countries including Germany, Spain, Britain, Denmark, Italy and Switzerland. Temperatures in Spain reached above 45 degrees Celsius, while Germany recorded a high of more than 41 degrees. Even in a cold country like Denmark, heat of up to 37 degrees was recorded, which is the highest in its history.

Thousands of schools closed due to heat

Red warning had to be issued in Britain for three consecutive days and the temperature in many areas reached above 36 degrees. The demand for electricity there has become the highest in the last several decades. Due to the heat, more than 1,000 schools had to be closed and the speed of trains had to be limited due to the expansion of railway tracks.

Highway closed due to extreme heat

Along with the scorching heat in Spain, incidents of forest fires have increased, due to which people in many areas have had to be sent to safe places. Whereas in Germany, due to extreme heat, a situation has arisen like melting of roads and closure of highways.

Electricity supply to thousands of houses disrupted

The temperature in France has reached above 44 degrees, due to which many train services were affected and power supply to thousands of homes was disrupted. Red alert has been issued in many cities of Italy and people are being advised to avoid going out during the day.

Warning of rapid melting of glaciers

In Switzerland too, the temperature has reached close to 38 degrees and there has been a warning of rapid melting of glaciers. At the same time, in Poland and Portugal, the temperature is being recorded around 40 degrees and the effect of heatwave is increasing continuously there too.

Many countries took emergency steps

Scientists say temperatures in Europe are rising faster than the world average, and such heatwaves may become more severe and longer in the future. In view of this situation, many countries have implemented health alerts and emergency measures.
