US News: The 22-year-old student tearfully denied that she was drowsy (sleepy or tired) when she struck and killed a dog walker on a well-lit road, hours after returning home from Florida. A ‘dull’ schoolgirl cried as she told a jury she ‘didn’t see’ the dog walker she hit and killed at a pedestrian crossing. Megan Jones, 22, hit Julia Pritchard as she crossed a well-lit street using a blue metal walker.

Meanwhile, Cardiff Crown Court was told that the student had returned from a holiday in Florida just a day before the accident and was going to drop her father off at work. The court was told Jones was distracted while driving and did not notice Miss Pritchard until she crashed into his windscreen. CCTV footage showed the victim wearing shorts leaving her house to walk her dog early in the morning. Jones denied being ‘drowsy’ due to the travel and said she slept during the nine-hour flight and also slept between 9pm and 4.55am at home.

On this, prosecutor Josh Scoular said that Miss Pritchard was hit at a ‘lighted’ crossing in Bridgend, South Wales in September 2023. Megan Jones, 22, was struck by a pedestrian as she crossed a ‘well-lit’ road using a blue metal walker. Giving evidence, Jones claimed that ‘shadows from trees’ had obstructed his view as he approached the crossing, but Mr Scoular said this was ‘completely irrelevant’ as he had not reached the crossing where Miss Pritchard was hit.

On the other hand, Jones told that her clothes were very dark in color and she was very short in height. At first I thought he was a small child. Miss Pritchard died in hospital five days later from severe head injuries. On this, Jones said that I was very sad and troubled that this woman died. Jones claimed that he did not see Miss Pritchard until she crashed into the windscreen of his Citroën car while driving his father to the train station,
