The first Major League Cricket (MLC) match between Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) and Washington Freedom was successfully held at this new Knight Riders Cricket Ground.

The inauguration of this stadium is believed to give a big boost to the development of cricket in America. Built as per ICC standards, the ground has eight pitches, international standard ground, six 120 feet high floodlight towers and modern facilities. More than 32 thousand metric tons of soil was removed to build this stadium.

Commenting on the historic moment, Knight Riders Group Co-Owner Shahrukh Khan said, “What was once only a dream, has become a reality today. It is a very proud moment for us to have the permanent home of cricket in Los Angeles. This ground will not only be limited to cricket, but will become a hub for community, entertainment and bringing families together.”

Knight Riders Sports CEO Venky Mysore also termed the project as the foundation for the future of cricket. “Our aim is to create the best cricket experience for players, fans and the local community by providing world-class facilities,” he said.

NBA champion Meta World Peace (Ron Artest) made the historic moment even more special by throwing the ceremonial first ball before the first game at the stadium. His presence underscored the growing link between mainstream American sports culture and cricket.

Meanwhile, Major League Cricket matches will be played at Knight Riders Cricket Ground from July 1 to July 5. Therefore, Los Angeles will experience the thrill of world-class T20 cricket for the first time, and the growing popularity of cricket in America will get a new direction due to this stadium.

Knight Riders Group currently owns four professional cricket franchises namely Kolkata Knight Riders (IPL), Trinbago Knight Riders (CPL), Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (ILT20) and Los Angeles Knight Riders (MLC). So far, the group has established itself as one of the most successful franchises in world cricket, winning a total of nine titles in various competitions.
