Shaheedi Diwas 2024: Will Haryana schools remain closed tomorrow?

Chandigarh: The Education Department of Haryana has released an official notice declaring the closure of all government and private schools. This decision has been made in observance of Shaheedi Diwas, also known as Haryana War Heroes’ Martyrdom Day. Recognised as a significant public holiday by the state government, the day is dedicated to honouring the brave martyrs who laid down their lives during the Indian Rebellion of 1857, including notable figures like Rao Tularam Singh and the Yaduvanshi Ahir King of Rewari.

Shaheedi Diwas marks the death anniversary of these heroes, and it serves as a reminder of their sacrifice for the nation’s freedom. Across Haryana, people come together to pay tributes at war memorials, acknowledging the courage and patriotism of these martyrs. This occasion has been included in the state’s public holiday calendar to ensure widespread recognition and participation in the commemorations.

Haryana schools closed on Shaheedi Diwas

As a result of the holiday, all educational institutions, including both government and private schools in all districts—such as Faridabad and Gurgaon—will remain closed on September 23. These closures apply across the entire state, including areas that fall within the National Capital Region (NCR).

Parents and students are advised that schools will reopen on Sunday, September 24, as per regular schedules. However, it is recommended to confirm the reopening details with individual school administrations, especially for private institutions, to avoid any inconvenience.

By commemorating Shaheedi Diwas, Haryana ensures that the contributions of its war heroes continue to be remembered and honoured by future generations.
