Shaheen Shah Afridi fined Rs 10 lakh for security violation –

Tezzbuzz Desk- The controversies in Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 are not showing any signs of stopping. In the latest case, Lahore Qalandars has imposed a fine of Pakistani rupees 10 lakh on its own player Shaheen Shah Afridi for violating security rules.

The controversy started when security agencies raised objection over the entry of some unauthorized persons into the team hotel. According to the report, these four persons were acquaintances of Sikandar Raza, who were not allowed to enter the players’ room. The request was apparently rejected by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) security officials and PSL CEO Salman Nazir. Despite this, it is alleged that Shaheen Afridi and Sikandar Raza allowed these people to enter the room.

According to the police, the guests stayed in the room for about three hours, while entry of any outsider is prohibited under security rules. However, Sikandar Raza claims that the guests stayed only for 40 minutes. The police issued a letter saying that both the players ignored the instructions of the security officials, which were made for the safety of the team and the players.

Lahore Qalandars issued a statement on the matter saying that it was not a case of deliberate rule breaking, but a misunderstanding. The team fully respected following the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) and expressed the need for better communication to avoid such incidents in future.

However, the team management fined Shaheen Afridi for maintaining discipline, while no official action was taken against Sikandar Raza. Raza said in the press conference that the entire responsibility rests on him and Shaheen Afridi should not be blamed.

According to the team, the matter was exaggerated beyond necessary. Security agencies say that such negligence can pose a threat to both the league and the players, so strict action was necessary.
