Shahid Afridi's big allegation amid Champions Trophy 2025 deadlock

ISLAMABAD Islamabad. Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has supported the firm nature of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding the hybrid model for the Champions Trophy 2025. The former all-rounder accused the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) of putting the game in a precarious position by not sending its team to Pakistan to play in the tournament. Both the PCB and BCCI have refused to change their stance, leading to an impasse over the venue of the Champions Trophy 2025. After BCCI refused to send its Indian team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has reiterated several times that they will not accept the hybrid model.

“By mixing politics with sports, the BCCI has put international cricket in a precarious position. I fully support the PCB's stance against the hybrid model – especially when Pakistan (despite security concerns) has played India five times since 26/11. tour, including bilateral white-ball series, it is time for the ICC and its board of directors to maintain impartiality and assert their authority.”
