Shahid-Tripti’s ‘O Romeo’ created a stir on Valentine’s Day, broke records with 45% jump

The magic of Valentine’s Day is clearly visible at the box office. Shahid Kapoor and Trupti Dimri’s romantic action thriller ‘O Romeo’ performed tremendously on the second day of its release. After a solid start on the first day, the film’s earnings registered a huge increase of about 45 percent on Saturday, making it the first choice of the audience on Valentine’s weekend.

Released on February 13, this film had a net collection of Rs 8.50 crore on the first day. On the second day, this figure increased to Rs 12.25 crore, taking the total domestic net collection for two days to Rs 20.75 crore. Trade experts are considering this surge to be the result of a mix of Valentine’s Day and romance-action.

Dominance of evening and night in Hindi occupancy

The total Hindi occupancy of the film on Nivar was 23.26 percent. The morning show received 10.24 percent viewers, which increased to 22.13 percent in the afternoon. It reached 26.79 percent in the evening show and 33.87 percent in the night screening. These figures clearly show that young viewers were most interested in evening and night shows.

Strong competition at the box office

The film faced tough competition from Shanaya Kapoor and Adarsh ​​Gaurav’s ‘Tu Ya Main’, but ‘O Romeo’ maintained its hold and showed stability in the opening weekend. This is director Vishal Bhardwaj’s fourth film with Shahid Kapoor. Earlier they had worked together in ‘Kaminey’, ‘Haider’ and ‘Rangoon’. This time the story has been presented in the form of a romantic action thriller, in which Trupti Dimri is in the lead role.

Star cast and story premise

Veteran actors like Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwari, Tamannaah Bhatia, Disha Patani, Farida Jalal and Vikrant Massey are also seen in the film. Made under the banner of Sajid Nadiadwala, this film is inspired by Hussain Zaidi’s book ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’. Principal photography began in January 2025 and a major portion of the shooting took place in Mumbai and Spain. According to industry reports, the cost of the film is said to be between Rs 120 to 150 crore.
