The Bollywood megastar Shahrukh Khan has once again managed to outshine all other Bollywood celebrities in India. This time around, he is in the headlines for buying one of the most unique SUVs. The “Badshah” of Bollywood has bought himself a brand-new Cadillac Escalade V-Series, and it has been reported that he has paid a whopping Rs 5.2 crore to privately import this vehicle.
The video showing Shahrukh Khan driving around in his brand-new Cadillac Escalade V-Series has been shared on YouTube by CS12 Vlogs on their channel. In this video, there are multiple clips of Shahrukh Khan’s new Escalade driving around Mumbai. In his convoy, we can note there are four white Toyota Fortuner SUVs which constantly follow his Escalade.
From the video, we can note that Shahrukh Khan has opted for the Cadillac Escalade’s top-of-the-line V-Series variant. It has been reported that Shahrukh Khan has paid around Rs 5.2 crore for his new Cadillac Escalade V. The base price of this vehicle internationally is $1,20,000, which, when converted to Indian Rupees, is around Rs 1.15 crore.
Following which, there is a long list of taxes and fees. The first part is shipping the vehicle to India, which costs Rs 10 lakh in freight charges, insurance, and port documentation. After which, the CIF price becomes Rs 1.25 crore. Then there are other charges which include basic customs duty, which is 100 percent at Rs 1.25 crore, social welfare surcharge of Rs 12 to 13 lakh, IGST of 28 percent, which is Rs 72 to 75 lakh, and compensation cess of 22 percent at Rs 56 to 60 lakh.
This brings the total cost to around Rs 3.9 to 4 crore. The Cadillac Escalade V is made in the United States of America, and it is a left-hand-drive vehicle. It first has to be converted to right-hand drive, and this increases the cost by Rs 30 lakh. Finally, after all the compliances and homologations are done and the vehicle is landed in India, it has to be registered, which costs Rs 50 lakh more. So, in total, the cost comes out to Rs 5.2 crore.
Now coming to the main highlights of the Cadillac Escalade V opted for by Shahrukh Khan. This luxury SUV’s length spans over 5,410 mm, which is 615 mm more than the already long Toyota Fortuner. As for the design, it boasts a boxy design with sharp styling and a macho stance. It boasts massive 24-inch alloy wheels, a sporty V-Series body kit, black mesh grille, quad exhaust setup, full LED lighting, illuminated Cadillac emblem, and power-opening and closing doors.
On the inside, it features a massive 55-inch curved OLED display, which is one of the biggest highlights, AKG Studio Reference Audio with a 42-speaker surround sound system. It also gets Super Cruise, which uses Cadillac’s hands-free semi-autonomous highway driving system, night vision camera, augmented reality navigation, head-up display, rear-seat entertainment screens, air suspension, and Magnetic Ride Control.
Other notable highlights include semi-aniline leather upholstery, heated, ventilated, and massaging seats, executive second-row seating, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, and soft-close doors, along with many others. Powering the Cadillac Escalade V is a massive 6.2-litre supercharged V8 engine, which makes 682 bhp and 885 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 10-speed gearbox and an AWD system. Despite being such a massive and heavy SUV, it can complete the sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.4 seconds.
