“Shakib Al Hasan can easily play in Bangladesh”: BCB assures all-rounder won’t be harassed on returning to the country

Bangladesh Cricket Board chief of Cricket Operations Shahriar Nafees has said that the interim government has assured that Shakib Al Hasan won’t be harassed upon returning to the country. Nafees further said that he sees no reason why Shakib can’t play in home matches unless he is injured.

Shakib is one of the accused in the death of Mohammed Rubel, who was shot dead during the violent protest in Bangladesh. Nafees said that the government has suggested the authorities to refrain the officials from taking unfair action against anyone.

“The honourable chief adviser, law adviser and sports adviser have cleared their stance on Shakib Al Hasan. The government has said that no one will be harassed in these cases. We believe the interim government is clear on Shakib. I don’t see why Shakib Al Hasan can’t play in Bangladesh unless there is an injury issue,” he said.

Shakib played in the first Test against India in Chennai. However, he is doubtful for the second game in Kanpur. He was hit by Jasprit Bumrah’s delivery.

Bangladesh lost the first game by 280 runs, and the visitors could make some changes to the Playing XI. They are sixth in the WTC standings.
