Sonbhadra/Uttar Pradesh-
Under the direction of Superintendent of Police Sonbhadra Abhishek Verma, as part of the campaign being run for prevention of crime and arrest of criminals in Sonbhadra district, under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Sonbhadra Anil Kumar and Area Officer Pipri Harsh Pandey, on 14.02.2026, by the team of Police Station Head Shaktinagar Kamal Nayan Dubey, checking of suspicious person/object/vehicle and search of wanted accused. On the information received from the informer, 05 accused were arrested with stolen car number MP66C1609 (Tata Indica) near Khokhari Pulia (Railway Siding).
In relation to the above, a case under FIR No. 25/2026 Section 303 (2) BNS was registered at Shaktinagar police station. On the basis of recovery and evidence, section 317(2), 3(5) of BNS has been increased. The arrested accused are being presented before the Honorable Court as per rules.
Details of the arrested accused – 1. Gurulal son of Kewal Singh, resident of village Nathupur police station Chola, district Tarn Taran (Punjab), age about 35 years, 2. Boljot Singh son of Kewal Singh resident of village Nathupur police station Chola, district Tarn Taran (Punjab), age about 30 years, 3. Germanjot Singh son of Paramjeet Singh resident of village Sarlani Manda police station City Patti district Tarn Taran (Punjab), age About 27 years, 4. Sikandarjit Singh, son of Seva Singh, resident of village Sarlani Manda police station city strip, district Tarn Taran (Punjab), age about 34 years, 5. Jovanjit Singh son of Bagicha Singh, resident of village Sarlani Manda police station, city strip, district Tarn Taran (Punjab), age about 28 years.
During the interrogation of the arrested accused by the police, the accused told that they work by roaming around and whenever they get a chance, they commit incidents of theft. Even before this, we have committed theft and also gone to jail. We had come here from Baidhan to Shaktinagar in search of work and started waiting for resources. Meanwhile, seeing the opportunity, on 13/14.02.2026, we made a plan to evade the said tax and go to another place, then we saw that Indigo car MP66C1609 was parked at a workshop, some distance away from Shaktinagar bus stand, there was no one there, we together kept it with us.
Opened the door of the Indigo car with the key, started the car, stole it and left from there at high speed and then we were going towards Anpara Sonbhadra in the same stolen car when we were about to run out of fuel on the way and to avoid the police, we took the car to a secluded place. We stayed the whole day and planned to carry out the theft and in the meantime we were caught by the police. Hence, the accused admitted that they had committed theft before and had also gone to jail.
