Shaktipeeth Mahamarg : Nagpur to Goa Shaktipeeth highway is emerging as the most ambitious project of Maharashtra government. Major Shaktipeethas like Mahalakshmi of Kolhapur, Tuljabhavani of Tuljapur, Renukamata of Mahur and other important pilgrimage sites will be connected through this highway. This route will go to Konkan through Vidarbha, Marathwada, West Maharashtra. Due to the refusal of farmers to give land for this highway in many districts, a new plan has been presented by the government with some changes in the structure of the highway.

According to the new plan, the Shaktipeeth Highway will now be from Wardhyatul Panar to Patradev in Goa. This route has been given the status of State Highway No. 10. So far we have given you the list of villages in Satara, Sangli, Solapur and Kolhapur districts under Shaktipeeth Highway. Now the list of villages in Sindhudurg district has come out. From Isapur in Kolhapur’s Chandgad taluka, the route will go to Sindhudurg district. After this, the Dodamarg will pass through the villages of Kumbhavade, Phukeri, Zholmbe in the taluk. Later it will pass through Kegad, Udeli, Nene, Phanaswade, Gharap, Dabhil, Asaniye, Padve Majgaon, Padve, Degve and Banda villages in Sawantwadi taluk. So these villages will come directly on the map of Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, according to the new plan, the length of the Nagpur to Goa Shaktipeeth highway will now be approximately 856.76 km. Nagpur to Goa Shaktipeeth Highway will connect 13 districts, 40 talukas and around 400 villages of Maharashtra. This highway (Shaktipeeth Highway) will start from Digras in Wardha district. This highway is passing through Vidarbha, Marathwada and West Maharashtra to Konkan. Shaktipeeth Highway will play an important role in religious, tourism and communication of Maharashtra. But according to the revised plan, many religious places will be moved away from the main Shaktipeeth Highway. Mahurgarh will be about 17 km away from Shaktipeeth highway, Aundha Nagnath will be 14 km, Parli Vaijnath 11 km, Tuljapur 14 km and Pandharpur will be around 25 km. Not only this, Kolhapur’s Mahalakshmi temple will be 8 km, Kunkeshwar’s Shiva temple 25 km and Reddy’s Ganapati 32 km away. Due to this there is a possibility of crowding of devotees.
