Shameful record of cricket history: 93 runs given away in 4 overs, recorded in the name of Zambian bowler Moses Jobarthe.

Records keep being made and broken on the cricket field, but there are some records which no player would like to make in their name. Recently, one such shameful record was created in the T20 International (T20I) match played between Zimbabwe and Zambia. Zambia’s young bowler Musa Jobarteh gave away so many runs in his quota of 4 overs, which has now become the most expensive spell in the history of international cricket.

Zimbabwe batsmen wreaked havoc

Zimbabwe’s batsmen thrashed Zambia’s bowlers during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional Qualifier. Batting first, Zimbabwe scored a huge score of 344/4 in 20 overs, which is the highest score in T20 International cricket.

Moses Jobarthe’s ‘creepy’ spell

The biggest contribution to this historic score was from Moses Jobarthe’s overs. Take a look at his stats:

  • over: 4

  • Run: 93

  • Wicket: 0

  • Economy: 23.25

  • Extra Runs: He also bowled many no-balls and wides in his spell, which made the job of the batsmen easier.

Broken Kasanve’s old record

Moses Jobarthe has left behind the record of Sri Lankan bowler Kasun Rajitha. Rajita had given 75 runs in 4 overs against Australia in the year 2019. Jobarthe has now officially become the bowler with the most runs in a T20I match.

Sikandar Raza’s historic century

On behalf of Zimbabwe, captain Sikander Raza batted stormily and played an unbeaten inning of 133 runs in just 43 balls. He hit 15 sixes and 7 fours in his innings. Raza also became the first player for Zimbabwe to score a century in T20Is.

Zambia’s team collapsed on 54

The Zambian team, which came out to chase the target like a mountain of 345 runs, could not withstand the pressure and was reduced to just 54 runs. Zimbabwe won the match by a huge margin of 290 runs, which is the biggest win in T20I history in terms of runs.
