Doctor advised to have a child
Recently, Shamita appeared with her healthcare professional Dr. Neeta Varty on Soha Ali Khan’s podcast, All About Her, to talk about endometriosis, surgery, lifestyle changes, fertility and everything else related to the condition. In this show, Shamita revealed that her doctor had advised her to have a child to treat endometriosis. On this, Soha said that many women are worried that if they have endometriosis, they may have trouble conceiving. He asked the doctor and Shamita, “How true is this fear? Was it a matter of concern for you too, Shamita?”

She also said that many doctors advise women suffering from PCOS or endometriosis to have a child, claiming that this will cure their disease. Shamita interrupted and said, “It’s endometriosis. Have a baby, that’s the cure. That’s what the doctor told me, and I said, ‘Okay! Where will I find a life partner?’ The expert said that he had given the same advice to Shamita because the doctors did not want the excess estrogen to affect the tissues. Dr. Varty says that these wounds start drying up during pregnancy. He further explained that in 80% to 90% of the cases, endometriosis affects the ovaries. “This causes chocolate-colored cysts to form,” he said. These cysts harm the ovaries as they continue to grow and damage the ovarian tissue. Due to the swelling present in the cyst, the number and quality of eggs may decrease, which can cause fertility problems in women.
