Actress Shamita Shetty recently shared her health issues and long treatment experience in Soha Ali Khan’s podcast ‘All About Her’. She told that she remained continuously troubled for about eight months, because she was not able to know the exact cause and symptoms of her illness.
Entertainment News: Actress Shamita Shetty recently spoke openly about her health challenges and gave an important message of raising awareness among women. She told that she continued to struggle with pain and discomfort for several months, but initially her disease could not be correctly identified. She later discovered that she was suffering from endometriosis and eventually had to undergo surgery.
During a podcast conversation, Shamita also shared that during this time, hormonal changes related to perimenopause were also taking place in her body, which made it even more difficult to understand the symptoms of the disease.
Correct diagnosis was not found for a long time
Shamita Shetty told that initially she ignored the changes she was feeling in her body considering it normal. When she felt continuous discomfort, she consulted a gynecologist. He said that during the initial investigation, routine medical tests, such as Pap smear and other necessary tests were conducted. Since all the reports were normal, no serious illness was suspected.
According to Shamita, when the reports came back normal, she also felt that perhaps this problem is common and most of the women would have to face such symptoms. For this reason it took a long time to identify the disease.
The real reason came to light after the pain increased
The actress told that her pain kept increasing as time passed. Over the course of about six to eight months, the condition became so serious that he had to undergo a detailed examination again. She said that at that time she was mentally very confused because hormonal changes were also taking place in her body due to perimenopause.
In such a situation, it was difficult to understand whether the pain was due to hormonal changes or a sign of some other disease. Eventually after detailed examination the doctors diagnosed endometriosis and advised surgery for treatment.
What is endometriosis?
Endometriosis is a medical condition in women in which tissue similar to the inner lining of the uterus starts growing outside the uterus. This can cause severe pain, irregular menstruation, discomfort in the pelvic area and in some cases even reproductive problems. According to experts, the symptoms of this disease sometimes resemble normal period pain, due to which its identification can be delayed. With timely diagnosis and proper treatment, its effects can be controlled to a great extent.
Perimenopause also became a cause of confusion
Shamita told that at the same time changes related to perimenopause had also started in her body. Perimenopause is the stage that comes before menopause. During this period, hormonal changes begin to occur in women, which can affect menstrual patterns, mood, sleep and physical health. He said that due to the symptoms of both the conditions being similar, it became difficult to understand what the real problem was.
Appealed to women to give priority to health
Shamita Shetty said during the conversation that many women continue to tolerate pain and discomfort for a long time, considering it as normal. Period pain and hormonal changes are often considered normal in society, due to which many serious health problems are not detected on time. She advised women that if there is persistent pain, abnormal changes or any problem in the body that persists for a long time, then do not ignore it and get a detailed examination done by a specialist doctor.
