Shardul Thakur and wife Mithali Parulkar welcome son
Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur and his wife Mithali Parulkar became parents to their first child, a son, on December 21, 2025. The cricketer shared the good news through an Instagram story, in which he posted a heart-touching message: “Hidden in the hearts of our parents, protected by silence, trust and immense love. Our little secret has finally arrived. Welcome, precious son—the dream we silently nurtured for 9 beautiful months.” The post contained a graphic that read “We have been blessed with a son!” And soon he started receiving lots of congratulations from fans and the cricket community.
Thakur, known as “Lord” among the fans, has played 13 Tests, 47 ODIs and 25 T20 matches for India. Traded from Lucknow Supergiants to Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2026, the Palghar-born seamer—who captains Mumbai in domestic cricket—has added versatility and experience to the five-time champion team. MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene praised the move, saying: “Shardul gives us a different structure with his versatility, experience and all-round depth. Him being a Mumbai boy… it’s a great story.”
In 105 IPL matches, Thakur has taken 107 wickets and his highest score is 68. The couple, who got engaged in November 2021 and married in February 2023, had kept their pregnancy private. Mithali, a resident of Kolhapur, is a professional baker and runs a luxury bakery brand.
Congratulations poured in on social media, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Thakur family as they prepare for the upcoming IPL season.
