Share Market Closed: On Friday, the last trading day of the week, the Indian stock market closed in the green, recovering from the previous day’s sharp decline and the morning decline. Shares of public sector banks and metal companies played an important role in boosting the market. Domestic benchmark BSE Sensex closed up 316.57 points, or 0.38 per cent, at 82,814.71, while NSE Nifty rose 116.90 points (0.46 per cent) at 25,571.25.

At market close, all Nifty indices were trading in green except Nifty IT. Despite tensions between the US and Iran weighing on Asian shares, indices posted gains. In the broader market, the Nifty Midcap 100 index rose 0.48 percent, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 index fell 0.11 percent.
In terms of sectoral indices, Nifty PSU Bank Index was the top gainer, up 1.68 percent, followed by Nifty Metals, which gained 1.25 percent. Moreover, Nifty Auto gained 0.41 percent, Nifty FMCG gained 0.56 percent, Nifty Bank gained 0.71 percent, while Nifty IT declined 0.98 percent.

Out of 30 stocks in the BSE Sensex, 22 gained, while 8 lost. NTPC, L&T, HUL, Tata Steel, Power Grid and BEL gained up to 2.7 percent and were the top losers, while Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Eternal, HCL Tech and Bharti Airtel were the top losers.
The market got off to a slow start in the morning. The market opened lower than yesterday’s levels, but after recovering from lower levels, Sensex and Nifty were trading steady. In the opening minutes, the Sensex fell 200 points to around 82,275 from the previous close. The Nifty also fell 40 points to 25,410. Bank Nifty closed down 132 points at 60,606. Nifty Midcap Select also fell by 50 points, but later recovered slightly.
