Nifty Auto closed with gains of 0.58 percent, Nifty IT 0.47 percent, Nifty Energy 0.83 percent, Nifty Private Bank 0.45 percent, Nifty Infra 1.18 percent, Nifty PSE 0.72 percent and Nifty Consumption 0.59 percent.

Midcap stocks support the market

On the other hand, Nifty FMCG closed with a marginal decline of 0.24 per cent and Nifty Media fell by 0.05 per cent. The market rally was strongly supported by midcap and smallcap stocks. The Nifty Midcap 100 index was at 60,283.30, up 705.25 points or 1.18 per cent and the Nifty Smallcap 100 index was at 17,389.15, up 161.90 points or 0.94 per cent.

HUL, Sun Pharma, ITC, Asian Paints, Power Grid, HCL Tech, Kotak Mahindra, Infosys and SBE were the losers.

As long as Nifty holds the level of 25,900, this bullish trend will continue. In case of bullishness, Nifty can touch the level of 26,300 in short term.
