Share Market Today: Sensex and Nifty opened with green mark, auto sector gained momentum in early trade.

Share Market Rise: The Indian stock market is witnessing a slight rise on the last day of the trading week. On Friday (May 22), both the major indices opened in the green. In the morning, Sensex was at 75,344 with a gain of 161 points or 0.21 percent and Nifty was at 23,697 with a gain of 40 points or 0.17 percent.

The auto sector was leading the market rise in early trade. Nifty Auto was the top gainer among the indices. Nifty Private Bank, Nifty Financial Services, Nifty Auto, Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Commodities, Nifty Services, Nifty Metal and Nifty India Defense were also in the green. Nifty Media, Nifty Healthcare, Nifty Realty, Nifty IT and Nifty Oil & Gas were in the red.

Market cap situation remained mixed

There was mixed trading in midcap and smallcap. The Nifty Midcap 100 index was at 61,369, up 68 points or 0.11 per cent. The Nifty Smallcap 100 index was at 17,976 with a weakness of 7 points or 0.04 per cent.

On the other hand, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bajaj Finserv, Maruti Suzuki, Asian Paints, UltraTech Cement, SBI, NTPC, Tata Steel, Eternal, Bharti Airtel, Titan, Adani Ports, HUL, L&T and Sun Pharma were gainers in the BSE Sensex. Whereas, shares of Power Grid, ITC, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, TCS, BEL and HCL Tech declined.

Strong signals received from international market

Global markets are witnessing a boom. Tokyo, Shanghai, Seoul, Jakarta and Bangkok were in the green. American stock markets also closed in the green on Thursday. The main index Dow Jones closed in the green with a gain of 0.55 percent and the technology index Nasdaq closed with a gain of 0.09 percent. The reason for the rise in global markets is the indications of easing of tensions from Iran.

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net sellers in Thursday’s session as well and sold Rs 1,891.21 crore in the equity market. At the same time, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) made purchases worth Rs 2,492.42 crore.

Peace talks continue between Iran and America

Iran’s state news agency ISNA says brokered talks between Tehran and Washington are continuing, with the two sides exchanging messages and drafts in an effort to establish the formal framework of an agreement to end the conflict.
