Shashank Singh breaks the silence on assault FIR, makes serious counter-allegations

Pictures taken inside home spaces, that’s what the ex-cook supposedly did, says Shashank Singh. His reply comes after claims surfaced – accusations he now labels empty noise. No hitting, no holding back – that part didn’t happen, insists the Punjab Kings player. Staff member wandered where they shouldn’t have, captured footage, and lost position soon after. The wrongful confinement charge floats in the air, but facts point elsewhere, according to him.

Shashank found himself pulled into a legal case along with his dad, Shailesh Singh, once part of the country’s police elite. Trouble started when Vipendra Singh Tomar, their past cook, walked into Ratibad Police Station in Bhopal, filing charges – beatings, shouting matches, and being locked up against his will. The report landed on official paper fast, naming both son and father straight away. Yet instead of folding under pressure, Shashank pushed back hard, calling the story full of holes. What happened, he said, didn’t line up with how it was told.

Shashank Singh alleges the cook recorded videos inside the family’s home

On Tuesday, June 30, while talking to PTI, Shashank said the claims about holding someone against their will weren’t true. He noted the person who filed the complaint was at the home just a short time. Though details differ, he stood by his version. The stay lasted mere days, nothing longer. What’s more, he questioned how such an accusation could arise from such a brief visit.

“Nothing like that happened. A person who comes on the evening of the 25th and leaves on the morning of the 28th – how can you call that keeping someone hostage?” Shashank said.
Besides playing for Punjab Kings, the batsman said the chef overstated how much he’d cooked before getting hired.

“The man came to us saying, ‘I know how to cook. I can prepare all kinds of food.’ But then he himself admitted that he actually didn’t know how to cook properly. So how can you trust a person like that?” he added.

Later on, Shashank claimed the worker went into personal areas inside the house, capturing footage while nobody agreed. He said it happened in spaces meant only for family, with no permission given at any point.

“He came into the house and started recording videos of bedrooms. He even entered the bedroom, where expensive and luxury items were kept, recorded videos there, and sent them to other people,” he claimed.
Shashank said someone his dad knew had suggested the cook. Right after showing up, the cook asked for ₹20,000 upfront.

“He had come through one of my father’s friends, who recommended him, saying that he knew how to cook all these dishes. That’s why he was brought to the house, but as soon as he arrived, he demanded an advance payment of ₹20,000,” Shashank said.

The cricketer mentioned his family let the cook start working for several days prior to talking pay or making any long-term choice. Just around then, authorities verified they’ve begun looking into things after the FIR was filed involving Shashank, his dad, and the household chauffeur.
