Shashi Tharoor praises Nitish government’s development model
Patna. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who is on tour in Bihar, has praised the development work of Nitish government. He said that Bihar has now become highly developed, facilities like electricity and water are available here. Tharoor had come to inaugurate the Nalanda Literature Festival organized in Rajgir. He told the media that earlier he did not find the situation in Bihar satisfactory, but now the situation has improved.
Discussion of change in Bihar
Sharing his experiences, Tharoor said that many positive changes are being seen in Bihar. They also mention that when they came here years ago, the situation was not good. He also told that nowadays roads have become better and people are going out at night. All these changes are signs of progress in Bihar.
Importance of Nalanda University
He says that the cooperation of the Central and State Governments is necessary to take forward the historical and cultural heritage of Nalanda. Tharoor referred to his comments made 20 years ago in which he had said that Nalanda should be revived so that it strengthens our education system in the 21st century.
Challenges of Indian Universities
In his address, Shashi Tharoor also said that there is still a long way to go to establish Indian universities on the global stage. He stressed the need to improve infrastructure and research. Tharoor said that India has 17 percent of the total brains in the world, but the research output is only 2.7 percent, which is worrying. The private sector also needs to invest in research.
