Shaun Tait Picks his All-Time ODI XI: Takes 4 Indian Players

Former Australian pace bowler Shaun Tait was very popular for his lightning pace and his ability to bowl above 150 kmph consistently. His career was seen with regular injuries, and because of that, he failed to secure his place in the Aussie team.

Shaun was a member of the 2007 World Cup-winning side, and he represented Australia in 3 Tests, 35 ODIs and 21 T20Is. He picked up 5, 62 and 28 wickets for respective format. Shaun played with and against one of the best player in Test format.

Recently, the South Australian cricketer revealed his all-time favourite ODI XI while having a chat with Sportskeeda.

beginning from the openers, Shaun picked Adam Gilchrist and Virender Sehwag, adding that he picked them because of their aggressive nature.

“I am going to go with Adam Gilchrist and (Virender) Sehwag. I like aggressiveness at the top of the order,” said Shaun.

Shaun went with a strong middle-order as he selected legendary batters like Ricky Ponting, Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara. Sachin and Ricky are the highest run-scorers for their respective nations and Brian is the second-highest run-scorer for his country.

Star batter Virat Kohli was taken at number 6. However, he was bit unsure for Kohli as he is a top-order batsman. Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni was picked to be at number 7.

“Batting at No. 3, I’ll have to go with Ricky Ponting. No. 4 would be Sachin Tendulkar, and No. 5 is Brian Lara. Can Virat Kohli bat at No. 6? Is that fine? I am going to squeeze in MS Dhoni at No. 7,” added Tait.

Three pacers and a spinner was picked for the bowling department namely Wasim Akram, Glenn McGrath, Shoaib Akhtar and Shane Warne.

Here is the complete ODI XI:

Virender Sehwag, Adam Gilchrist, Ricky Ponting, Sachin Tendulkar, Brain Lara, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Shane Warne, Wasim Akram, Glenn McGrath, Shoaib Akhtar.
