Shaw to play for Mumbai for one last time? Former Indian selector makes a huge claim

Former selector of India, Jatin Paranjape exposed his wrath at Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) for the treatment meted on its bright star batter, Prithvi Shaw who has been discarded from the state team for the pending Vijay Hazare Trophy. This is just following what the news agency, the Press Trust of India (PTI) has revealed, at times with MCA being “forced to hide” Shaw on the ground because of his unfit conditions, indiscipline, and problems of attitude. This report also quoted an MCA source stating that Shaw ordinarily misses practice sessions after getting back to the team hotel at “six in the morning” upon being out the whole night. Also, this source called Shaw as “his own enemy.”.

But so far, he (Paranjape) has sympathized with Shaw after saying that the MCA was not going to help the player at all, who might be hunting for a team next season. Paranjape also slammed the MCA source for such “loose comments”.

“Such loose comments from sources within MCA is truly unfortunate. Looks like they are not interested in helping Shaw out. This will definitely be his last season as a Mumbai player,” Paranjape wrote on X, while replying to a post.

Such loose comments from sources within MCA are truly unfortunate. Looks like they are not interested in helping Shaw out. This will surely be his last season as a Mumbai player.

The player was hyped and broke into the scene making his Test debut in the year 2018 as an 18-year-old in a home series against the west indies.

That was the thrilling debut in which he recorded his only century in the format, but in the meantime, he has played merely four more Tests, the last of which was against Australia four years ago.

He has failed to establish himself in both formats of ODI and T20 International and went through the phase when he had completely missed playing white-ball cricket for India since 2021. Such figures are going to leave one underwhelmed, especially when it comes to the case of a player who was said to be a next big thing in Indian cricket around two years ago.
