‘She wears a watch worth Rs 1 crore…’ Ritu Tawde got trolled, now BMC Mayor gave clarification

Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde has given clarification on the controversy arising on social media regarding her watch. He has claimed that this entire matter is based on false and misleading information. He clearly said that the watch seen in his hand is not a luxury watch worth crores, but a simple gift given by his children on his birthday. The controversy came to light at a time when the Mayor presided over a BMC meeting. The issue of issuance of fake birth certificates was discussed in the meeting, in which police officers and other departments were involved.

 

Some people on social media had claimed that Mayor Ritu Tawde is wearing a ‘Rolex Daytona’ watch. The price of the watch is said to be Rs 60 to 70 lakh and in India it is said to be around Rs 1 crore. On these claims, Ritu Tawde said that this post is completely false and misleading. He wrote on X that the watch he is wearing is of Michael Kors brand, not Rolex and its price is around Rs 15 to 16 thousand.

Claims worth crores rejected regarding watch worth Rs 15 thousand

Mayer said, I am not interested in brands whether it is watches, sarees or anything else. My focus is only on serving the public. This is a simple watch, which my children gave me on my birthday. He told that as the dispute escalated, he asked his daughter about the watch, then came to know that it is Michael Kors brand, which costs around Rs 15-16 thousand.

Who is Mayor Ritu Tawde?

Ritu Tawde, who became the BJP mayor of Mumbai after 44 years, has been elected councilor from Ghatkopar area for the third time. Ritu Tawde, who became a councilor for the first time in 2012, had also been the chairperson of the education committee of BMC. Tawde started politics with Congress but later joined BJP.
