New Delhi 24 December 2025: Shefali Verma new record Indian women’s cricket team won against Sri Lanka by 7 wickets in the second T20 match played at ACA-VDCA Stadium, Visakhapatnam. The biggest star of this victory was young opener Shafali Verma, who not only helped India win the match but also created a special record by leaving behind the veteran players. Shefali Verma played an unbeaten inning of 69 runs in the match and created a big record.

Chasing the target of 129 runs, India had a strong start, in which Haryana native Shefali Verma destroyed the Sri Lankan bowlers. He hit shots at every corner of the ground and completed the match in just 11.5 overs. Shefali hit 11 fours and one six in her unbeaten 69 runs.
She also made important partnerships during the innings, including 29 runs with Smriti Mandhana (14) for the first wicket, 58 runs with Jemimah Rodrigues (26) for the second wicket and 41 runs with captain Harmanpreet Kaur (10) to ensure India’s victory.
New record made in Visakhapatnam
For her outstanding performance in this match, she received the Player of the Match (POTM) award. By getting selected for this award, Shefali achieved an important achievement. This was the eighth POTM award of her career. With this, she left behind Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma (with 7 awards each). She is now behind only Mithali Raj (12) and Harmanpreet Kaur (11) in receiving the most Player of the Match awards for India in T20Is.

great performance by bowlers
Earlier, Indian bowlers prevented Sri Lanka from scoring big, in which spinners Vaishnavi Sharma and Sri Charani bowled brilliantly and took two wickets each, while fast bowlers Kranti Goud and Sneh Rana also kept the pressure on the opposition team by taking 1-1 wicket. Sneh Rana was very financially successful and gave only 11 runs in her quota.
