Thanks to the all-round performance of Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma, India registered its second consecutive win in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. The team defeated Netherlands by 95 runs in its second match. Earlier, India had defeated Pakistan badly in its opening match. In the match against Netherlands, Mandhana played a strong inning of 74 runs for the Indian team. Along with Mandhana, Shefali Verma also scored a brilliant half century.
Apart from this half century, Shefali also did wonders with bowling. He took three wickets for just 20 runs in 3.2 overs. Earlier, he had scored 55 runs in 38 balls. With this, Shefali became only the third player in the world to score a half century and take three wickets in a T20 World Cup match. Before Shefali, this feat was done by Hayley Mathews of West Indies against Sri Lanka in 2018. Mathews scored 62 runs and took three wickets in that match. After this, South Africa’s Suni Luus achieved this feat by taking 61 runs and three wickets against Thailand in 2020.
