Shefali Verma’s explosive style in IND vs SL, said – Sir always tells the players that everyone should be ready for bowling.
Visakhapatnam. Indian women’s team opener Shafali Verma stressed on being ready to play every role in the team, saying that head coach Amol Majumdar asks every player to be ready to bowl and that is why all the batsmen bowl regularly in the nets. Shafali played a key role in helping India win by seven wickets in the second T20 International against Sri Lanka here on Tuesday by scoring 69 runs in 34 balls. With this victory, India took a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.
While discussing her bowling options with reporters after the match, Shefali said, “I will talk about myself. I love bowling. I think when we get bored of fielding, we get a chance to bowl. This way we are able to contribute more to the team.
He said, “Amol sir always tells the players that anyone can bowl and everyone should be prepared. We all keep bowling continuously in the nets. We prepare for this. We are all very eager to bowl. Smriti (Mandhana) didi also does the same. I and Jemimah (Rodrigues) also bowl in the nets.
Shefali said, “So I think we all bowl. Cricket is a different kind of game. In this you never know when the team will need you. Therefore, we all have to be prepared for this.
Shefali’s unbeaten inning of 69 runs is the highest score of her career in T20 International cricket in India. The Indian team has performed well so far in batting and bowling but its fielding has not been good. Shefali said that the team is working hard to improve in this important department of the game keeping in mind the World Cup to be held in England next year.
“Every player is working hard,” he said. We all know that there is T20 World Cup next year and so we are paying attention even to small things. We are working hard on fielding and constantly trying to improve our game.
Shafali expressed happiness over left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma taking her first wicket in her second international match. “She wasn’t that happy, but we were all very happy for her,” he said. She is bowling very well and looks full of confidence.
