Sheikh Hasina Victory Day: On the occasion of Bangladesh’s Victory Day, the country’s former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed serious concern. He has said that the forces that were defeated in the liberation war of 1971 have once again become active. This was the same war after which Bangladesh gained independence from Pakistan on 16 December 1971. He has appealed to the people to hold fast to the spirit of the liberation struggle even in these difficult times.

Violence under the guise of anti-discrimination movement

Former Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina said in a statement issued on the occasion of Victory Day that today it is with sadness that it has to be said that the defeated forces of 1971 have once again emerged. He alleged that the ‘anti-discrimination movement’ Under the guise of this, people have been deceived, violence has been spread in a planned manner and power has been captured illegally. He reminded that Bangladesh had won with great sacrifices after a nine-month long struggle under the leadership of Awami League.

Bangabandhu’s historical house targeted

Sheikh Hasina detailed the violence that took place during the protests in the year 2024. He said that the first attack during these protests was on Dhanmondi 32, the house of Bangabandhu (Sheikh Mujibur Rahman). This historical place is deeply associated with the memories of the declaration of independence and freedom struggle of Bangladesh.

He said, “Across the country, statues and monuments of Bangabandhu and the Liberation War were vandalized, the Liberation War Museum was looted and even the killing grounds and monuments were not spared.” This makes it clear that the main target of these forces is the legacy of the liberation war.

Serious allegations against the interim government

The former prime minister criticized the interim government led by Mohammad Yunus. He alleged that anarchy has spread across the country for the last 17 months and the liberation struggle itself is being targeted.

He said that there are physical attacks on freedom fighters, false propaganda is being carried out against the Father of the Nation and efforts are being made to weaken the greatness of the liberation war. He expressed concern that the liberation war generation was being termed as the worst generation and convicted war criminals had been released.

Appeal to unite again for victory

While wishing the people of Bangladesh on Victory Day, Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to the freedom fighters. He made an emotional appeal to the people to hold fast to the spirit and values ​​of the liberation war even in these difficult times. He expressed confidence that the defeated forces would be defeated once again. The former PM stressed, ‘We will defeat the defeated forces once again. Just like it happened on December 16, 1971, Bangladesh’s victory will once again be under the leadership of the Awami League.”
