Shekhar Kapur plans to start an AI-centric film school in a slum
Mumbai Mumbai. Veteran filmmaker Shekhar Kapur is planning to start an AI-focused film school in Mumbai's Dharavi slum district. According to Variety, the initiative is based on Kapoor's decade-long experience working with Oscar-winning composer A.R. Had run Dharavi project together with Rahman. It is a hip-hop and rap initiative in Dharavi, in partnership with Universal Music, that has successfully catapulted many students to national stardom. Talking in detail about his plans, Shekhar Kapur told the portal, “Those kids have become national stars. For years people have been telling me, 'Please start a film school.'
I'm going to start a film school in Dharavi, and the reason is because I think Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a new step in cinema.” He said, “AI is the most democratized technology that everyone can do whatever they want. Also say. Because I know that my future competition is not with the biggest directors of the world, but with this 15-year-old girl who lives in a slum in Mumbai, who understands prompting and can sit at the computer for a minute, two minutes, can make 10-minute movies… and better than me.” He said that with access and understanding of that technology, anyone could become “the world's greatest filmmaker.”
The exact timeline of the school's launch is still uncertain. Meanwhile, Shekhar Kapur is busy working on the sequel of his hit film 'Masoom' (1983). While speaking to ANI, Kapoor recalled, “The script is ready and I will start shooting in February or March. I was flying from Dubai to Delhi and I realized that I had written the script of 'Masoom 2' on the plane seat. Have left.” The filmmaker said, “But I got it back and a flight attendant wrote me a note saying that Masoom was a very good film and this one will be equally good. So look, even after it was left behind It's back – there must be something about it, it's destiny.”
