Shelby Super Baja F-250 Revealed
Shelby American is preparing to enter the heavy-duty off-road truck space with a new machine that looks ready to dominate desert terrain. Early details and an image circulating among insiders suggest the company is developing a rugged Ford-based pickup called the Shelby Super Baja F-250.
The truck appears to take the already massive Ford Super Duty platform and turn it into something built for high-speed desert running and extreme off-road capability.
Shelby Expands Into Heavy-Duty Trucks
Shelby American is best known for its high-performance Mustangs and aggressive Ford F-150 builds, but the company seems ready to take things further with the Super Duty lineup.
Sources indicate the Super Baja will be the first vehicle produced at Shelby American’s facility in Bristol, Indiana, marking an important step in the company’s expansion strategy.
While the exact trim level of the Ford F-250 that will serve as the foundation hasn’t been confirmed yet, one major detail has already surfaced: the truck will use Ford’s 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbo-diesel V8. That engine is already known for massive torque and towing capability, making it a natural fit for a heavy-duty off-road build.
Aggressive Exterior Design
The early image reveals several design elements that give the truck a serious off-road presence.
Up front, the Super Baja appears to feature a blacked-out grille with bold Shelby lettering, similar to the styling used on Ford’s Raptor models. The hood includes an air inlet toward the front, suggesting both cooling benefits and a more aggressive visual profile.
Wide integrated fender flares wrap around the wheel arches, accommodating the truck’s larger tires. These flares may also require marker lights due to the increased width.
The truck also seems to feature a custom steel front bumper, designed with cutouts to improve approach angles when tackling steep terrain. Mounted in the center is an LED light bar, providing extra visibility during nighttime off-road driving.
Built for Serious Off-Road Capability
Where the Super Baja really stands out is its hardware.
The truck rides on 37-inch BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 tires mounted on 20-inch wheels, a setup designed for traction on sand, rock, and mud. The oversized tires are paired with a noticeable suspension lift that further increases ground clearance.
Shelby has reportedly fitted the truck with King off-road racing shocks, tuned specifically for this build. King suspension systems are widely respected in desert racing and high-performance off-road applications.
A King steering stabilizer kit also appears to be mounted on the front axle, helping manage the massive tires and improving control when driving at speed over rough surfaces.
Overland-Style Utility Features
The cargo bed also receives special treatment. The truck appears to include a bed-mounted rack system fitted with LED light pods along the top bar to illuminate trails and desert terrain ahead.
Mounted to the rack are two full-size spare tires, a practical addition for long off-road adventures where tire damage is a real possibility.
Together, these features suggest the Super Baja is designed not just for show, but for serious off-road exploration.
More Details Expected Soon
For now, Shelby American has yet to officially confirm specifications, pricing, or production numbers for the Super Baja F-250. However, given the company’s track record with limited-production specialty trucks, the model could end up being a rare and highly sought-after build.
If the early information proves accurate, the Shelby Super Baja F-250 could become one of the most extreme heavy-duty off-road trucks available, combining Ford’s durable Super Duty platform with Shelby’s performance engineering.
More details are expected to emerge in the coming months as Shelby prepares for a formal reveal.
