Shimron Hetmyer Blazes as Zimbabwe Crumble in Super 8 Showdown
A fiery knock from Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell, along with an all-rounder bowler performance setup West Indies’ mammoth 107-run victory against Zimbabwe in the Super 8s clash of the T20 World Cup 2026.
By this win West Indies topped the group 1 Super 8s of the T20 World Cup points table 2026 with a superior run rate of 5.350.
After being invited to bat first, Brandon King and Shai Hope opened the innings while Richard Ngarava opened the bowling attack.
Despite Brandon King and Shai Hope’s poor start, West Indies went onto score 55 runs in the powerplay with Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell at crease.
The duo made a crucial partneship of 122 runs with both smash quick fifties. Hetmyer added score 85 runs off 34 deliveries before being dismissed by Graeme Cremer.
Despite his dismissal, Rovman Powell went on to score 59 runs before being dismissed by Blessing Muzarabani.
Sherfane Rutherford and Romario Shepherd made a key contribution helping West Indies to cross 200 run mark.
With Jason Holder’s 13 run knock, West Indies went on to score 254 runs in their 20 over innings. Sherfane Rutherford remained unbeaten with 31 runs.
Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani bagged two wickets each while Brad Evans and Graeme Cremer completed with one wicket tally.
Chasing the mammoth 255 run target, Tadiwanashe Marumani and Brian Bennett opened the innings while Akeal Hosein opened the bowling attack.

Matthew Forde bagged the first wicket for West Indies dismissing 14 runs for Taidwanashe. Soon after his dismissal, Brian Bennett and Ryan Burl lost their wickets in a single over to Akeal Hosein.
Despite Dion Myers and Sikandar Raza’s tried to forge a partnership, both were dismissed by Gudakesh Motie for 28 and 27 runs respectively. Tashinga Musekiwa got dismissed by for duck as Zimbabwe scored 94 runs for 6 wickets.
With Tony Munyonga added up only 14 runs and Graeme Cremer dismissed for duck, Zimbabwe came to their last two wickets.
Despite Muzarabani’s dismissal, Brad Evan made a small cameo hitting 43 runs off 21 deliverie which included 2 fours and five sixes.
However, with his dismissal, Zimbabwe lost all their 10 wickets for 147 runs.
Gudakes Motie completed his four over spell and picked four wickets while Akeal Hosein bagged 3 wickets.
Bowling his final over, Mattew Forde picked two wickets with two balls remaining in his final over whiel Jason Holder bagged a wicket in his three over spell.
