Shivam Dube Heroics Set up India’s Win Against Netherlands
A 66-run knock and a two-wicket haul from Shivam Dube set up India’s narrow 17-run victory against the Netherlands in the 36th match of the T20 World Cup 2026 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
By this win, India remained unbeaten by the end of the group stages in the T20 World Cup campaign. India finished in the top spot in Group A of the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 points table.
After choosing to bat first, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan opened the innings, while Aryan Dutt opened the bowling attack.
Aryan Dutt picked the wickets of the openers within the powerplay, with Abhishek Sharma getting dismissed on a duck, while Ishan Kishan scored 18 runs.
With Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav at the crease, India scored 51 runs in the power play.
Tilak Varma added 31 runs while Suryakumar Yadav amassed 34 runs before their dismissals. However, Shivam Dube made an aggressive knock, smashing 61 runs off 31 deliveries.
In the final over, Loga van Beek bagged the wickets of Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya for the 66 and 30 runs respectively. By the end of 20 overs, India secured 193 runs, losing 6 wickets.

Logan van Beek bagged three wickets while Aryan Dutt picked two wickets, and Kyle Klein completed his spell with a wicket tally.
In the chase of 194 runs, Michael Levitt and Max O’Dowd opened the innings while Arshdeep opened the bowling attack.
The opener made a slow start, and with the dismissal of Max for 20 runs by Varun Chakravarthy, the Netherlands scored 36 runs in the power play.
Meanwhile, Hardik brought his first wicket, dismissing Michael Levitt for 24 runs.
Varun Chakravarthy brought his second and third wickets in a single over, dismissing Colin Ackermann and Aryan Dutt.
Bas de Leede did show some resistance, but was soon sent back to be dug out by Shivam Dube.
Despite contributions from Zach Lion-Cachet and Noah Croes, the Netherlands scored 176 runs in their 20-over innings, losing the game by 17 runs.
Shivam Dube was named Player of the Match. Speaking on the post match presentation, Dube said, “Yeah, it was a little tough on the wicket, but yeah, this is the situation I love to bat and I was enjoying, although I was in pressure at some time, but yeah, the off-spinner bowled really well to me and four dot balls, a good over from my side, but I knew that I’m gonna cover later.”
