In an interview, Shobha De talked about the relationship between the two families of late actor Dharmendra. He said, “The Deol family completely isolated Hema Malini, they took her away from someone with whom she had spent 45 years of her life. She must have felt a lot of pain, but she kept it all inside. The way she handled it and when she did any public function, I felt she did it with great dignity, not only for herself but also for the person she had lost.”

Shobha further said, “Hema herself is a big personality, she could have raised this issue if she wanted, but she chose Garima. I think it says a lot about her character. She could have very easily, in a way, this is not a good word, but hijacked those emotional moments immediately after Dharam ji’s passing. However, she did not do that.
