Golabazar, Gorakhpur:The health services of the 30 bedded Community Health Center (CHC) located at Tehsil Headquarters Gola have been suffering from chaos for a long time. Along with the shortage of specialist doctors in the hospital, many important administrative and technical posts are also lying vacant. This is having a direct impact on the treatment of patients, operation of health schemes and public awareness programs. Dissatisfaction with the health system is continuously increasing among the regional people.

According to local people, specialist doctors are not deployed in the hospital as per the standard. Common diseases are treated somehow, but as soon as serious or complex patients arrive, they are referred to the district hospital or private hospitals. Due to this, poor and rural patients have to face financial and mental problems.

Three important posts vacant for years

Three important posts in the hospital like Assistant Research Officer, Health Education Officer and Block Program Manager are also said to be vacant. Assistant Research Officer plays an important role in vaccination, monitoring ANM work and preparing health related reports.

The responsibility of the Health Education Officer is to spread health related awareness, promotion of government schemes, public information, disposal of RTI, IGRS cases, correspondence and representing the hospital in various meetings. Whereas the Block Program Manager is responsible for the operation of National Health Mission schemes, updating data on the portal, coordination at the district level and monitoring of regional health programs.

Impact on operation of health schemes also

Due to these posts remaining vacant, the effective implementation of many schemes of the Health Department is being affected. Health related information and public welfare programs are not reaching the rural areas at the expected level. Local people say that due to lack of adequate appointments for doctors and other sanctioned posts in the hospital over the years, CHC Gola is not able to live up to the expectations of the area.

People demanded immediate appointment

The residents of the area have demanded from senior officials of the government and health department that the deployment of specialist doctors as per the standards in CHC Gola should be ensured and all the vacant important posts including Assistant Research Officer, Health Education Officer and Block Program Manager should be filled soon, so that better and accessible health services can be provided to the people of the area.
