- LPG gas cylinder crisis due to Iran and US-Israel war
- Government warns of strict action against black marketers
- Domestic LPG production increased
LPG Users to shift PNG : LPG gas cylinder crisis is increasing due to war between Iran and US-Israel. Despite all the claims of the government, there are reports of shortage of LPG cylinders from various parts of the country. Meanwhile, the government has now requested nearly 6 million households living near the PNG network of piped cooking gas to accept this facility. This was explained by Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. Households living near PNG infrastructure may benefit from receiving piped cooking gas. This will give them a stable supply. There are 33.37 crore LPG users in the country and 1.5 crore people get PNG fuel piped to their kitchens.

Warning to depositors
Contractors may be looking to take advantage of the crisis created by the war in West Asia. The government has warned of strict action against those hoarding and black marketers. Top officials of the Ministry of Petroleum and Civil Supplies have held meetings with state civil supplies departments and asked for action against hoarders and black marketers.
Domestic LPG production increased
Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has clarified that domestic LPG production has increased by 30 percent since March 5. No need for panic booking and no LPG dealer is out of stock. LPG bookings have now increased to 7.57 million cylinders, from an average of 5.57 million before the Iran war, a clear indication of panic booking. Sharma said the average refill booking in the country is 5.57 million cylinders per day, but there has been a sudden increase in the last two weeks. In such a scenario, 7.57 million bookings were made on March 12. This is nothing but panic booking. He also said that earlier we were supplying 5 million cylinders per day and now we are maintaining the same figure.
Prioritize critical areas
The government is prioritizing essential sectors like domestic kitchens, hospitals and educational institutions and providing uninterrupted LPG supply to them. On the other hand, supply to commercial establishments like hotels and restaurants has been reduced. The Center has allocated a fifth of commercial gas supplies to state governments and union territories, with conflict in West Asia affecting supplies of crude oil and petroleum products as the Strait of Hormuz between Iran and Oman closes. It is one of the most important energy transport routes in the world.
