Doctor Sinha explains that milk is not only a source of lactose, but it is a treasure trove of protein, calcium, vitamin B-12 and many other essential nutrients. Diabetes patients should always choose low-fat milk i.e. ‘toned’ or ‘double toned’ milk. Full cream or condensed milk has high fat content which is not good for both heart health and sugar. Along with this, while drinking milk, one should completely avoid adding sugar, jaggery or any sweet flavor to it. Drinking skimmed and low-fat milk in limited quantity (e.g. a small glass) daily provides complete nutrition without harming health.
