‘Should wind up India alliance, if…’: Omar Abdullah on AAP-Congress fight in Delhi
New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said that India Bloc should dismantle the alliance if the coalition was meant only for the Lok Sabha elections. Abdullah’s was responding to a question about the ongoing war-of-words between the Congress Party and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ahead of Assembly polls in the national capital.
The J&K CM said there have been no meetings about the alliance’s agenda even as uncertainty remains over the leadership with multiple India Bloc partners voicing their opinion about the leadership change.
“I cannot say anything about what’s going on in Delhi because we have nothing to do with Delhi Elections. As far as I remember, there was no time limit to the INDIA alliance. Unfortunately, no INDIA alliance meeting is being organised so there is no clarity about leadership, agenda, or our (INDIA bloc’s) existence… They should wind up the alliance in case it was just for the Parliament elections,” said the Jammu and Kashmir CM.
What Arvind Kejriwal said about alliance with Congress in Delhi polls?
Abdullah’s remarks come following AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal’s announcement earlier in the day that his party will contest the Delhi polls alone. The former Delhi CM said the Delhi elections were fight between two parties (AAP, BJP), not the alliances. However, Kejriwal said those who want to support AAP, are always welcome.
Farooq Abdullah contradicts Omar
Soon after Omar’s response, his father Farooq Abdullah said those who feel that the India alliance was only for Lok Sabha elections, should come out of their misconceptions.
Farooq Abdullah said the India bloc has alliance exists to strengthen the country and remove hatred.
