Shreyas Iyer becomes first captain to win the toss in first six T20I matches
Shreyas Iyer replaced Suryakumar Yadav as T20I captain and started leading the side from the two-match Ireland series. He is currently marshalling his troops in the ongoing five-match T20I series against England. During the IND vs ENG 4th T20I at the County Ground in Bristol on Thursday (July 9), he became the first captain to win the toss in the first six matches of the shortest format of the game.
The 31-year-old dethroned Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan from the top spot, with the veteran winning the toss in the first five T20Is as skipper.
Despite winning the toss, Iyer hasn’t won a match to date, with the Men in Blue losing four contests. After going 0-2 down against Ireland, the sub-continent nation has lost two successive games against England. The first T20I was called off due to rain. India have failed across departments against Harry Brook’s team.
