England top spot after losing fifth match
The points difference between India and England in the ICC T20 team rankings has now come down to just two points. If Team India loses the final match of the T20 series against England, it will lose its top spot. The Indian team had topped the ICC T20 Team Rankings in 2022. After this, Team India did consistently well in this format and won the T20 World Cup in 2024 and 2026. When the Indian team started the England tour, they had a total of 275 rating points. After losing the series 2-0 against Ireland, Team India’s rating points dropped to 272. While the first match against England was called off due to rain, Team India’s rating points have now reached 269 after losing three matches in a row. On the other hand, England have scored 267 points with consecutive wins. So, if one more match is lost, the top position of Team India will be in danger.
Harry Brooke also has his eye on the top spot
After taking a 3-0 lead in the T20 International series against India in Bristol, England captain Harry Brooke said after the match that he would look to win the series 4-0 to regain the top spot, which would be a significant achievement for his team. The final match of the series will be played on July 11 at Southampton at 7:00 PM IST.
