‘This defeat hurts a lot’, Shubman Gill expressed his pain for the first time after losing the IPL 2026 final
Delhi: Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill (Shubman Gill) IPL 2026 final (RCB vs GT) For the first time after the defeat, I have expressed my pain. Two days after losing the title match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Gill expressed his disappointment by sharing an emotional post on social media.
Along with this, he also thanked the fans who supported the team throughout the season. Despite an excellent performance, Gujarat Titans missed out on winning the trophy. After the defeat in the final, Gill admitted that the team had come very close to victory, but could not cross the final stage.

While sharing a post on Instagram on Tuesday, June 2, GT captain Gill wrote that the disappointment of losing in the final is still heavy on his mind. However, he said that cricket teaches him to learn from defeat and move forward.
Gill wrote,
‘We came very close to victory, but could not cross the final stage. This defeat hurts a lot and its disappointment is heavy on the heart. But this game, which we all love, teaches us many big lessons of life.” He further said, “This game has taught me that there is no real defeat even in defeat, as long as we keep coming back again and again and do not give up. Now we will again enter the field for the country.
Expressed gratitude to the fans
Gill also specially thanked all the fans of Gujarat Titans in his message. He said that the support of the fans throughout the season was the biggest source of inspiration for the team. He wrote that I want to wholeheartedly thank all those people who stood with us in both good and bad times. Your energy and support gave us the strength to fight till the last moment.
Indication of a strong comeback in the next season
Although the defeat in the final shattered Gujarat Titans’ dream of winning the second title, Gill made it clear in his message that the team will recover from this setback and return with stronger intentions in the next season.

GT did not play against RCB in the final
The final of IPL 2026 was played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Batting first, Gujarat Titans scored 155 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, RCB achieved the target in 18 overs thanks to Virat Kohli’s brilliant unbeaten inning of 75 runs. Bengaluru won the match by 5 wickets and won its second consecutive IPL title, while Gujarat Titans had to be content with becoming the runner-up.
