Shubman Gill gives first reaction on being left out of T20 World Cup 2026: “What is written, we will get the same”

Young captain of Indian cricket Shubhman Gill by ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 For the first time, he has openly reacted to his name not being included in the Indian team. In the press conference before the first ODI against New Zealand, Gill said that he respects the decision of the selectors and wishes the team all the success in the World Cup.

Gill said, “I believe that I am where I need to be in my life and no one can take away what is written in my destiny. A player always wants to do the best for the country, and the selectors have taken their decision.” He wished Team India all the best for its T20 World Cup campaign and expressed hope that the team will be successful in winning the title.

Shubman Gill did not get a place in the 15-member team selected for the T20 World Cup 2026, while in his place Akshar Patel was given the role of vice-captain and Suryakumar Yadav Has been made the captain. The reasons for Gill’s absence have been cited as poor form and team combination. Despite this, Gill maintained a positive outlook and said that he would give his 100% for the team whenever he gets a chance.

26-year-old Shubman Gill has previously played 36 T20 International matches for India, in which he has scored 869 runs at an average of 28.03 and strike rate of 138.59. Although he was not able to score big in this format, the selection committee did not include him in the team.

This reaction of Gill shows his mature and balanced attitude, as he is currently the ODI and Test captain of the team and can still hope to return to T20 international cricket in the future.
